After washing your hair, you want to feel the cleanliness and softness of the hair, but not the itching and irritation of the skin. Meanwhile, this is a fairly common problem, and it is not always associated with the cost of shampoo. And with what else - we were told by a professional stylist.

5 reasons why your head itches after shampooing (and what to do about it)

1. Insufficient cleansing

Itching and flaking are the main symptoms of dry scalp, which is inevitable with improper washing. The first common mistake is too hot water. It should be at a comfortable or slightly cool temperature because hot dries out the skin. The second is washing too quickly, when you put shampoo on your head, make a couple of movements and immediately wash it off. It is important to thoroughly rinse the root zone of impurities, otherwise they will accumulate, causing flaking and dandruff.

What to do

Don't skimp and shampoo twice. Rinse your hair with plenty of water to completely rinse out the product. Use an exfoliating, scrub or detox shampoo once a week to deeply cleanse your scalp, removing excess sebum and styling residue.

2. Choosing the wrong shampoo

There are three main types of scalp: normal, oily and dry. Too aggressive shampoos are harmful for dry, and very nutritious for oily ones. Shampoo must be selected strictly taking into account the type and condition of the scalp. It is not easy to cope with such a task on your own, it is better to contact the master: he will diagnose and draw up an individual care program that is right for you.

What to do

Ideally, if the type of hair and scalp are radically different (for example, the roots are oily, and the tips are dry and brittle), use two shampoos. First, apply shampoo for oily scalp , do a light massage and rinse thoroughly, after which - the second shampoo, according to the type of hair and only on the hair itself, avoiding contact with the skin. In this way, you will ensure optimal cleansing of the roots and moistening of the length during washing.

3. Individual reaction

Any shampoo can cause a reaction due to any component in the composition. Unfortunately, this does not depend on the price, brand and segment - this can happen with an expensive, cheap, pharmacy, professional, and even hypoallergenic product.

What to do

Just change your shampoo and wait a few days. If a similar problem worries often and in the bathroom already a whole battery of started packages has accumulated, contact an allergist: he will conduct special tests and help identify the unwanted component.

4. Too much dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is the best friend of girls who are looking to refresh and extend their styling for another day. But if you do not give your scalp a rest, it can cause dandruff. Particles of the product clog pores, disrupting the respiratory function of the skin. As a result, the hair looks dull and lifeless, and the scalp secretes even more sebum and begins to peel off.

What to do

Use dry shampoo only for special occasions, it is not an everyday remedy. You should not go to bed with him: if you applied in the morning, be sure to wash  your hair in the evening .

5. Wrong styling

Almost no styling is applied to the scalp - not even mousses for volume! If after it you feel tightness and discomfort during the day, one of the reasons may be the improper use of styling products. The higher the degree of fixation, the more aggressive the composition, which means that a reaction in the form of itching, peeling and tightness is possible.

What to do

Step back a centimeter and carefully distribute the styling only over the root zone. Spray the varnish so that it does not get on the scalp.
